I have about 120 acres with coal mineral rights. A coal mine had previously mined out the land. Does that make the coal and mineral rights less valuable? I appreciate any help. Thank you.
Hard to say since you didn’t give a state, county or exact location. Generally speaking, if the coal has been mined, then that value would logically go down. If you still have mineral rights for oil and gas, that could be a different answer. Coal is declining in popularity in some areas given its environmental problems.
Thank you for your response. The property is in Mingo County, WV. You’ve been very helpful.
This forum is mostly for oil and gas mineral owners. You might want to post in the West Virginia Mineral rights category if you have specific oil and gas questions.
