Question

just wondering if you know about any leasing going on in the Rush Springs area

I know that there have been some leasing in the Agwam area

The Grady County Clerk records online is a good place to find that information. A search of 4N-7W shows over 300 oil and gas leases in 2013. Calvin Energy (7), Unit Petroleum (3), Vitruvian II Woodford (2), and Turner Oil and Gas Properties (3) are the ones leasing looking at only the first page (15 leases). I believe Calvin Energy leases primarily for EOG Resources. EOG is the one that hit the homerun with the Jobe wells on the west side of Ninnekah.

Don Bray, I am looking for info for Sec. 16 4n 8w. I attempted to check the records online, however came up empty. Perhaps I just don't understand how to search? Any info will be most appreciated.

I just did a search in 4N-8W and found Unit, Marathon and Continental leases in the past week or so in that township. There have also been some others with whom I’m not familiar. I saw in another post that you have been contacted about leasing. Who has contacted you?

I went close by your section yesterday. Picked up a beef for the freezer from Newt's at Sterling. Looks like Norwich Petroleum Corporation and K-Rock Properties LLC have the only active leases (4) in 16-4N-8W. And then Norwich assigned their O&G lease to K-Rock.

There were a total of 61 o&g leases in 4N-6W last year. EOG Resources and Unit are active with horizontal drilling north and northeast of your section (closest about 5 miles as the crow flies).

Marcus, I appreciate this information. I have been approached by K-Rock, via letter...when I attempted to call the phone # it was incorrect, which I found a little unsettling. Their offer was $400 per acre with 3/16. A broker for Continental called this week with a $500 with 3/16 OR $250 for a 1/5. Are these amounts in line for that area? Again, Thank you for the information.

Than you Don Bray. K Rock was one of the companies that approached me. Do you have any idea of the lease offers others have been receiving?

Thank you,

My gut feeling is that the Continental offer is reasonable. As Don pointed out above, there really hasn't been a significant amount of leasing in that township yet so it's tough to get a going rate. $500 @ 3/16 seems to be a standard starting point for new areas of leasing like this.

I appreciate this information. Thank you,
