I have a question as to why and operator can continue to sell oil every few months, shown in the disposition category of the railroad commission’s production numbers, but be producing much more than is being sold.

Not sure how much extra room they have in the tanks to hold the remaining oil. Contact your operator and ask. Also, another working interest owner may be selling their own, so double check on that option as well.
