I just came across a section of my grandfather’s will, and it doesn’t mean anything to me (I am pretty ignorant on this whole topic of mineral rights!); RI Ratzlaff Unit Lease 70150 ORR " " " RI " " 70153 ORR " " " In Beaver County. Can anyone educate me?
Looks like it may be an overriding royalty interest in a particular unit called the Ratzlaff. There are quite a few wells with the name “Ratzlaff”. Most of the ones in Beaver county are very old and in 4,5,8,&9 of 3N-21E and in 22 & 27 of 2N-20E. Does that ring a bell with any family properties. An Override is often an interest granted out of the working interest parties’ share in payment for services such as landwork or geology back in the old days. I think all of the Beaver county wells are Plugged and Abandoned. You can look them up on the OCC wellrecords list. https://imaging.occ.ok.gov/imaging/OGWellRecords.aspx
