Reeves County Acreage

I own surface and mineral rights to 114.29 acres located out of north 1/2 Section 15, block 59 AB 3386 Public School Land Survey Reeves County Texas. Does anybody have land there or know what oil or gas activity is going on? I previously saw Wade Meeker, Craig Ronhovde, and M A Smith discussing something about block 59. Also, does anyone know the location of block 59. coordinates would be great or any description. And thanks to all helpful members--you are GREAT.

Aubrey -- 13.6 miles NW of Toyah. That area of the county is certainly heating up in recent months.

Buzz–thanks for the info–if I may I have another, probably dumb question. I own over an acre of land in the downtown area of Toyah. Has any drilling been done there or is it even allowed?

Aubrey -- I'm sure there has been drilling within the outer city limits of Pecos. Your one acre would have to be pooled with surrounding parcels to form a drilling unit for the type of well contemplated that would meet RRC requirements, e.g., 40-, 80-, 120- or 360-acres and would also satisfy the drilling company. Does anyone know if there is any activity in the BLK 45 area.I have 8 acres they are doing a GEO Survey on now.I also have had several (land men i asume) ask me if i want to sell it.I am not from the area and live in Mass so i really do not know whats going on totally in that area now.I do know i am not interested at this time in selling it.

Randy -- you're going to have to give a better description... the are many 'BLK 45s' in Reeves County. The Abstract Number would help immensely. Later -- Buzz

Hi sorry here it is Land Description AB 2754 BLK 45 SEC 12 LOT 1

Aubrey

Energen just had a permit approved today in section 10 just north of you.

Thanks Garland

Is all PSL land owned by the State? As far as I know my family has owned this land for 100 years. I keep seeing people talking about the State taking 1/2 of their lease $$$. Can anybody clear this up for me-- I’m very confused Thanks Aubrey

If I understand correctly, PSL land was given by the state to the schools so the school could use/sell the land to support the school. The state kept the minerals but the landowner gets a generous 50% of mineral royalty for acting as agent/steward for the state.

I kept getting calls on my land in sec 15 block 59 PSL saying according to the PLO my land was classified and the State owned 1/2 of all funds. I knew that was not true because of a title search I had done. Anyway I called the PLO and spoke with both the leasing and legal departments. F Y I. Sec 15 is color coded different on the maps and people are thinking that means it is classified. Not true. That means that the State reserved the sulfur, lignite, and all metals but not the oil or gas. That is all mine. In case any of you have a similar situation, this might be the answer

Available leases update. BHP did not exercise their option Jan 16, 2014 for the two year extension so the lease expired on sec 26, Blk C-8, abstract 3323. these mineral are at the southern boundary of the area that BHP so it helps us to better define the area BHP is no longer interested in pursuing. Also minerals in sec 8, Blk 51, T&P RR, Tws 7, abstract 5873 remains unleased since the lease with Broening expired in 2011. This section is slightly to the southeast of Blk C-8 and south of Toyah Lake . The block as a whole is pretty active, but not in section 8.

If anyone I has leased minerals in either of these two blocks let me know who is leasing and what the terms were.I would like to get them released

The BHP well in sec 21, Blk C-17, abstract 1410 remains in limbo with no production. Keystone did extend their on our mineral in the section for two years to Jan 2016. Will have to see if anything further is don with the well, which I was told was temporarily abandoned pending further evaluation . Donny

PS - Wade just gave you the hottest tip I've seen on this forum!

Wade Thanks so much for the excellent advice–Cimerax does not want it–maybe because they think it is classified–which it is not. Working on several leads–also working with land men David Murphy and Ty Mitchell Regards Aubrey

Wade Cimerax told me they were not presently interested in anything above your sec. 22–everybody seems to have their eye on Energen’s drilling above me in sec. 10 to see how it develops.

My lease on sec 21 c17 ran out in feb. I called keystone to see if they wanted to lease it. The said they were selling their leases and moving out of area.
