Hello everyone I noticed that I have two wells that are plugged on Block C16 section 20 and Block C 16 section 19. They were both producing as recent as January 2023. Any ideas?
Also, i know other wells that have been plugged for sometime (several years). Would they ever be “reopened” (Block C 16 section 17 and a couple of others).

It is more likely that the wells were simply shut-in and never plugged. RRC has many wells listed as Inactive and those are not plugged. All the operator has to do is file notice that well has been returned to production. RRC has a history of allowing operators to leave wells shut-in for 20+ years. Eventually operations are assigned to entities with no assets or which disappear and the State has obligation to plug.
