Very well. But the oil and gas economy of Reeves county is driven by
politics and bureaucrats making rulings that directly affect landowners
revenue from surface and mineral rights.
I’ll quit posting here or anywhere.

Thank you, Linton. I’ll stay. I assume Mr. Leker doesn’t approve of my
obvious support of the Trump administration withdrawing regulations on the domestic oil and gas industry to stimulate the economy. That’s his prerogative, as is my posting my pro Trump opinion as it relates to increased revenue from surface and mineral rights holdings of members. I’m a cheerleader for oil and gas exploration, production, and
revenue enhancement for all of Reeves county inhabitants.
In all fairness to Steve, Lawrence injected politics and Steve objected to that. I don’t see much difference. But I hope that neither of them leaves. We all have valuable info and info is power.
MA Smith Jetta Permian is the company that has been leasing many sections in Block 58. I believe last year in about Feb, they also Acquired several sections in NE Block 59 from GLO auction. Leasing some in Block 72 and 55.
Producing wells usually hold leases as long as there is production. You should read your lease to see what it says.
Not so fast BP.
I just released my deep rights that had expired, despite the fact that we had 3 wells on my acreage. It was a significant amount of money and because I was on top of the obligations of the operator (and they messed up not paying a minor extension bonus)…I called their bluff and now have it closed.
I am blocking Lawrence Rayburn’s comments in my feed as this forum is about minerals, not politics.
Lawrence, please don’t leave. There are a lot of us that gain insightful information from your posts. If Mr. Leker doesn’t appreciate all you have to offer, he can just not read your posts. Not sure why he has to broadcast that decision of his. Linton
I hope in the new forum there will be a section for politics where we can go to read opinions if we want to. Just because I don’t agree with someone doesn’t mean I’m not interested in that opinion. That way, we can choose to read and discuss the politics involved in mineral production or choose not to, and not get into this finger-pointing. Linton
Mineral Rights Forum 2.0 - thanks!
Lawrence Rayburn, I am 100% with you on your previous postings about Reeves County. Please keep sharing on happenings in Reeves County.
Just a question I have a lease that expired with two producing wells abstract 5261 section 26 block C7 I find it weird No One Has contacted me with a new lease proposal? Do my interests have to be leased?
I sure missed something somewhere. Is there going to be a new forum?
I agree we need more civil discussion in this country. If you are busy screaming, you can’t hear.
Liz, there is a beta version being tested. It’ll be the same forum, just updated, I guess you would say… Linton
Liz, they are updating the software for the forum, there is a beta version being tested. Kenny DuBose posted in the tech section on October 31 that it would be up and running in approximately 45 days. Linton
Amy John -
The two Wells appear to be producing over 300 Barrels of Oil a Day as of last September.
If the land you own a mineral interest in is located in the Unit and it was under a lease when they began drilling activities, then your interests will be Held By Production (HBP) until the wells are finished producing. That might be 30 to 40 more years.
It doesn’t matter how long your lease was for (the Primary Term). Your mineral interests will be HBP for so long as oil or gas is produced.
That’s in every lease.
Hope this helps -
Amy, I’m going to say it the way it finally made sense to me! You only get lease bonuses before (until) they drill a (producing) well. After they drill the well, then you get money for the production of the mineral. Hope this helps. Linton
i am very grateful for this forum, it is my lifeline for what is going on ‘out there’ and this is my opinion for its future: stay with the facts regarding oil and gas technology for this forum and not the politics; as joe friday was fond of remarking, ‘just the facts, ma’am’. that said, anyone who would deny to another health care is a horrible person and that includes our top state and national elected officials. had it not been for obamacare i would not have been able to afford to see the progression of my ms and best chart my future healthcare plans and personal life expectations. the small acreage i own in sec 11, blk 3, h&gn is my economic buffer so, of course, i am interested in whatever policies and global situations that affect, or might affect, its value but i only want the facts of what is - only facts - and none of the diatribe. in a most selfish fashion, if anything recent is going on which is ‘good’ for my immediate area - lay it on me dudes and dudettes!!! fyi, i am still open to selling and it is still not leased below boh but i need tax advice afore doing anything:). regards and best wishes to all in this holiday season and thruout the coming year.
Oh, yeah, and then what Stephen said!! Linton
I just want to say I’m glad Lawrence and Steve and all are staying, and I’m also glad there’ll be a separate forum where politics can be discussed, so this forum can stay, as Richard says, “just the facts.” Dealing with O&G is stressful enough already. Even though I may agree with what’s said, that’s not why I follow this forum. For years I’ve been able to turn to this forum to learn without emotion - just plain and simple how things work stuff. There aren’t many places you can do that, and it’s an incredibly generous gift to people like me who were blessed to inherit something our forebears worked hard to earn. I am a humble steward of what my grandfather worked to build and preserve for me and mine, and that’s a responsibility I take very seriously. I learn from ALL your wise voices. To the admins, thank you for recognizing this as a concern. A separate forum will let that conversation happen and help keep this one focused on the remarkable brain trust of the very generous folks who know so much more than I will ever know.
