Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

jw – the closest well currently being drilled in your vicinity is ~11 miles to the east: Cimarex Energy, RED LODGE C20-11 #2H, A2399, SEC11-BLK-C20-PSL. Hope this helps… Later – Buzz

FYI for everyone, the NERA report on exporting natural gas is now out, the Dept. of Energy was waiting for this report to make further determinations on exporting LNG. The indicators are that at any level our exporting LNG would benefit the country as a whole. This bodes well for the eventual development of the deeper gas deposits in Reeves county. Years ago Petro-Hunt estimated a minimum of 116 BCF per section in Reeves county and a potential high of 573 BCF per section. More recently the Discovy Group looked at Delaware Basin ( I posted the link in a previous comment) gas reserves and calculated 800 TCF over 12,000 square miles. Between the estimates of over 100 million barrels of original oil in place per section, plus the gas reserves and the (now hopeful) ability to expand our overseas markets for US gas the next few years should be really golden for Reeves county and the Delaware Basin. Buzz, any more specific info on Energen’s test locations? We are Block 54 T4 sec 30 and 38

Thanks still dreaming here. Merry Christmas

Phyllis – Anadarko has an active horizontal permit in the adjacent Section 37 since 2-25-11. I’s not sure, but I don’t believe it has been drilled. Merry Christmas to you. Later – Buzz

Very useful link, Buzz. Thank you. Is there a way to tie in the API number on that link to a location on the GIS map?

Hold your horses! In last 2 days, Chevron applies for 6 permits on fee land they own SE of Pecos. New names to Reeves – like Apache, Devon – popping up. Energen moving back to Reeves NW of Pecos with 2 Wolfcamp (Trend Area) vertical tests. Later – Buzz

Both wells in H&GN Blk3, Sec 12, 13.2 miles NNW of Pecos along the river. Here’s the RRC ‘Drilling Permit’ link:

  1. Select county

  2. Enter Begin/End dates lower left corner. E.g., 01/01/2012… 12/12/2012

  3. Click 'Submit' button Later -- Buzz

Cynthia – I’m not sure which GIS map you’re referencing… but here’s the RRC’s GIS map link:

Click the “RRC’s Public GIS Map Viewer” hot link in the middle of the page; Center-right choose “Reeves”; Right below that, enter the API number; Click arrow … Hope this helps. Later – Buzz

Marian – those two wells have not spudded as yet. Later – Buzz

I haven’t had a chance to follow up with the suggestions regarding how to track the status of drilling provided below as I have not been successful in doing so on my own. We know there was a permit approved in July 2012. We were told by the landman that Petrohawk is pretty good at letting you know when they start to drill and it can take up to a year. Our lease Block 4, Section 61, Permit name Geltemeyer 4-61, Api 389-33400 and 32849, status # 743141. Anyone know any status? NW of Pecos. We have recieved 3 offers in the last four months to sell or sell partial rights.

Buzz,

Thanks for the info. Are BHP (Petrohawk) facilities 7-8 mi NW of Pecos anywhere near AB-4061. Trying to find it on RRC site.

All the best and Merry Christmas.

Fred

Fred – my GLO GIS map site is balky tonight… the Geltemeyer wells are on A-391, -411 & -1390. From my limited understanding, Petrohawk’s pipeline facilities would deliver from this general area in a northernly direction. Later – Buzz

Marian, RRC website indicates 389-32849 with lease name of Geltemeyer 61 and a vertical drill had a G5 filed by Petrohawk in October. If it is you, you should check it out. Our well with Petrohawk is northwest of you and we received from BHP our division order about a month ago.

Marian – I stand partially corrected… 32849 was completed over a year ago. The two Geltemeyer wells permitted in July 2012 --33399 & 33400 – have not spudded. Sorry 'bout that! Later – Buzz

Thanks Paul and Buzz. Two numbers that I have seen could be the confusion that is now cleared up. Sounds promising though from what Paul has said. In light of sounding dumb which I am with this new language, what does spudded mean? Sounds like initial drilling? Thanks again for the help. If I follow the directions provided below in previous postings, could I find the info you did Buzz?

==< … what does spudded mean? Sounds like initial drilling? >==

Marian – correct, the date drilling commences.

==< If I follow the directions provided below in previous postings, could I find the info you did Buzz? >==

Unlikely until way after the fact. I get drilling information from a weekly drilling report from RigData, a paid subscription service.

A third Geltemeyer well – API No. 32847 -– horizontal – was completed last year as well.

Petrohawk should have facilities in place soon to begin production of several wells in your area, i.e., 7-8 miles NW of Pecos. Later – Buzz

Thanks for the tip. Will keep searching, and keep an eye on Geltemeyer.

Thanks again Buzz for your support of us all! And yes very best for Christmas and the New Year!

Jackson, we have mineral acreage in BLK 13, section 185, so we are some miles to the south of you. We’ve been offered $1,000 an acre and 25% royalty by Clayton Williams. Your royalty percentages are way too low. Best luck! - Liz
