Reeves County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Does anyone have any information on activity by Eagle Oil and Gas in Reeves county? They are the company that leased our mineral rights.

Cynthia – Eagle has been very active in Reeves for several years; in fact, one of themost active drillers. A little over a year ago, they sold ‘most’ of their holdings south of Pecos to Comstock Resources who promptly became another of the most active drillers. Eagle retained leases in Reeves and has been adding more. They are currently drilling a well 10.4 miles SE of Pecos and have received over a dozen drilling permits in the last 6 months… mostly SE of Pecos. Later – Buzz

==< Did Shell get all of CHK’s acreage? >==

Liz – essentially, ‘yes’… as I understand it. All the wells C-W has drilled in southern Reeves whose name begins with ‘CHK’ are joint venture wells on CHK original leases. Later – Buzz

Buzz i think my intrest is about ten or more miles s e of the well you said eagle is drilling.

Liz – C-W had a possible multi-year joint venture w/Chesapeake in southern Reeves as long as they kept drilling CHK leases at a certain rate per year to earn additional acreage. At one point last year C-W stated ub an earnings conference call that they had already drilled enough wells to keep the J-V in force thru mid-2013. Then along came Chesapeake’s cash flow problems which led to them selling their Reeves holdings to Shell. I feel these events naturally slowed C-W’s activity, thru no fault of their own I might add. Billy – sorry, not enough information for me to locate. Later – Buzz

I can pretty much assure you all that Chesapeake did not sell all their acerage in Reeves County. Unless Chesapeake is lying to me, they still have some acerage leased.

Just thought I’d let you know that Clayton Williams returned the signed contract with a check today. $1000 an acre, 25%, 3 years. Block 13, Section 185, A-302. They also talked about wanting to get sis-in-law’s lease finalized soon so they can drill. Of course, that may be so much talk, but still - we’re couple of pretty happy people today!

Liz – thanks for the update… and good luck! Later – Buzz

Steve, we already have a bunch of wells in our Blk 52 T-8 interests. Hopefully they’ll move over to your section soon!

Oh, and thank you all for the well wishes!

As far as I can tell, CWE has drilled all our wells in 52 T-8 (as well as 298 in Blk 13). Our Block 1 interests are drilled by Red Willow, and we have a couple wells in our Block 13 interests several sections directly south of 300 that were drilled a long time ago and barely produce anything anymore and aren’t CWE.

Buzz i am reffering to township 8 blk. 50, section 15 tks for the reply sorry about the lack of info.

Liz M. wow that sounds like a great lease, good luck.

Billy – I have you located now, T&P Block 50, Township 8, Section 13, A-717 as being 21.2 miles SSE of Pecos. Current rig activity indicates Patriot Resources drilling two wells ~4 and ~5 miles to your NE; J. Cleo Thompson drilling two wells, one ~5 miles NW and one ~6 miles SW, all verticals. Permitting and drilling activity, generally SE of Pecos, has really been picking up the last several months. Later – Buzz
