I received a letter stating that the company I had leased my rights to has released an area in Reeves County. Do I need to do anything with this information, or just file it away for my records?

If it was a release, then you are able to lease again.
Was a copy of the recorded release included in your letter or does the letter at least reference the recording data - book and page? If not, ask for this information for your files.
I will have to go and check. If I remember correctly it has a reference number on the letter.
