Resolving Estate Questions

I am trying to resolve my father’s estate and I am trying to answer questions for the lawyer to probate his will but, I have very little information or understanding about his mineral rights.

I believe he and my mother had just one royalty ownership in Rusk County, TX but I’m finding paperwork & checks from different companies and don’t understand how they are related.

He used to receive checks and 1099-Misc forms from KJ Energy. I found a letter that KJE had been transferred to Buckhorn Production, LLC late 2024. He received a 2024 1099-Misc from Buckhorn Productions, LLC but, his most recent check sent in January 2025 is from Sabine Oil & Gas. Are these two related somehow? Can someone help me understand if these are related or does he perhaps have two different royal interests?

Also, I assume the “Division Order Payee” would be my father but, how would I obtain the “Name of Owner on Deed”?

Look on the check stub statements for the well name. If they are the same, from Buckhorn to Sabine, then that is just an operator change. (The internal property ID number will probably be different). See how the check is made out and to whom. That is most likely how he is carried as the Division Order Payee.

You can look up the deed on www.Texasfile.gov. It is free to look and a small fee to print.
