Greetings, I own some royalty interest located in McKenzie County, ND where a 4 well pad was permitted and drilling commenced. They drilled 2 of the laterals and then moved the rig. All 4 wells are currently listed as DRL. Any insight as to why they would move the rig without finishing the remaining 2 wells? Don’t know if the remaining 2 wells are drilled to depth or not. Thanks!
It is more helpful if you give the section, township and range and well names. Some of us have subscriptions that can help answer the question.
Very rarely/if ever do they drill the amount of wells permitted in the first go around. Due to lack of info, Im guessing they drilled 2 separate wells covering 4 sections to hold the acreage. Depending on how large the operator is, If the wells are good, they will come back in a few years to drill the others, if its a smaller operator, could be much sooner
Here are the location and status via the NDIC,

Wells 40805 and 40837 have been drilled 40835 and 40836 have not. All wells are 3 section laterals and in McKenzie County. All three sections are held in production by an existing Oasis well completed in 2013.
Hope this clarifies if my question was vague… my apologies!
All four wells were spud according to NDIC. By same Nabors B26 rig. There are directional surveys for the two wells in the W/2 of the unit. I don’t know that lack of surveys on the other two in the E2 means they were not drilled to TD or if it means that the surveys aren’t loaded at NDIC yet. I’d guess the latter.
If you are out there and know for a fact that they were not drilled to TD, then I guess that is the case. Why? Don’t know. Assuming the other two actually spud, I would guess means the rig had to go somewhere else and didn’t have time to finish or they had absolute hell on the first two laterals…I’d guess they are drilling them in stages and thus these last 2 are at a min landed with 7" in zone and waiting to drill out the lateral. And that will happen. Assuming again that they aren’t already drilled to TD. But no idea. Call Oasis/Chord, tell them you are a mineral owner there and ask them what is up.
Nabors B26 currently drilling for Chord (i.e. Oasis) in 148 99.
Thank you all for the replies… They’re all very helpful and it is much appreciated!!
