Is the state of Washington able to divert Royalty checks for child support? I have never missed a payment and the checks are well beyond what is required for child support payments. I would appreciate if anyone has any experience or advice with this.
This is a question for your attorney for your custody / child support agreement. It depends on Washington state law or law in state where support agreement is based and perhaps the law in the state where minerals are located. Some states will directly collect and disperse the support payments. If you are an employee, your employer may be compelled to withhold the support payment out of wages and remit to state agency.
