I manage some property between Stanton and Midland in which we have an oil company that has "their own" SWD on our property where they dispose of saltwater from their wells. Can anyone give me a ballpark figure on what they should be paying the landowner? Right now it's only a few cents per barrel they are paying us. I checked on if they had to have it trucked off the property, that was $1.60 to $2.00 per barrel... I think we're being underpaid???
There are any number of factors involved. But, $.05-$.10 per bbl is a pretty standard royalty to the surface owner.
Thanks for your reply.... I was thinking if they had to pay a third party to haul it away at $1.60 to $2.00 per barrel, about .25 cents per barrel would be fair, look how much they're saving by getting to dispose of it on the property??
