I have mineral rights at this location. Devon has drilled and I have been receiving royalty checks since March. The first one was for 2 months, I believe, so it was fairly significant. The next two months the amount dropped each time. This month the amount has dropped drastically. So, does that mean that the well is almost dry already? Also, I look at the statement that comes with the check that explains the total. But, how do I know if I am getting the correct amount since it was pooled? Do I just trust that Devon is doing it right?
Dwolfe, This is perfectly normal for the shale plays. They will drop off drastically in the first year and then have a low production rate for many years. It is not probably dry already.
