Hello, I’m searching for a needle in a haystack. My mother recently passed and apparently had mineral interests that non of her children knew about to which we have to prove she is the owner. Is there a way to tell where this is located and who the holder is? County Coal, Section 31, Township 02N, Range 09E, pooling 696061
Have you tried searching on www.okcountyrecords.com? Type in her name or whom she might have inherited from. Free to look. Small fee to download. The records go back several decades, but not all the way back to statehood.
That case order is from Cause 201809493-T in 2018. Canyon Creek Operating is the contact. Search for her name in the respondents list. Contact Canyon Creek for how they have her name listed and ask about getting into pay status if the well was successful. https://imaging.occ.ok.gov/AP/Orders/occ30239408.pdf.
@Osudelt00, this area is located about 1 mile east of Tupelo, Oklahoma just down old state hwy 3. There is at least one fairly new producing well in the pooled area.
Welcome to the forum. Condolences on the loss of your mother. You can search Coal County specifically here:
Coal County | OKCountyRecords.com | County Clerk Public Land Records for Oklahoma
You should hold on to your mother’s records, especially any 1099s from oil companies, division orders and/or paystubs.
You should contact any company producing to ask what is required to have the “pay status” changed from your mother to her heirs. This may be as simple as an affidavit of heirship but more often a probate is needed.
