You can get an engineer to appraise the areas. Several are listed in the Directories tab above. It might be wiser to consult an attorney to have your mom pass the minerals to you in her will. That may have more favorable tax consequences both for the estate and for you in the long run.

An attorney can draw up a proper deed or help with a will. The tax benefits may be better with a will.
