I am thinking of selling inherited mineral rights in Major and Blaine Co. The area include Blaine Co AL 20 18N 11W, AL 03 18N 11W & Major Co SE19 20N 10W, NW09 21N 10W. Is this a good idea and how would I go about finding offers?
I think you might need to do some research first and understand what you have, where it is, who the operators are, what the going prices in your area are, etc.
You will probably get offers, just by posting what you just did. Get informed first so that you can decide if any offers are lowball or more reasonable.
Do you still have producing wells? Do you have a cost basis for your minerals rights so that you know what your capital gains tax might be?
I would suggest that you look up the investor presentations for Continental Resources, Newfield, Alta Mesa Resources to get a feel for what is happening near you.
Activity is moving into Major County. Might consider hanging onto that one. Quite a bit of recent leasing there.
