Stephens County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Thank you Michael for your, as usual, wonderful information. What a learning process this is. So much fun thinking of these gushers it is almost as good to hear and talk about them as to get them eventually. I don’t have interest in a Boles, but hope another works out well for me and the others who have interests. Happy Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! Hutch- I didn’t get a payment on my dd for the Poteet. It must be shut down for fracking I hope???

Merry Christmas and have a prosperous New Year. I thank everyone for providing me a valued education this past year.

Stephen

Merry Christmas to all my friends on the forum!! I love you guys!! Hope next year brings everyone security and happiness!

Merry Christmas to all our forum family!!! Here’s an interesting article sent to me:

Any news on either the Gentry or Connell wells near Loco? CR is the operator.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all on the forum, and thanks for all the info you all so freely give out, to keep us all informed. May God continue to Bless us all.

Barb-- thanks for update on Forrest 2. I was just now looking that one up. Glad to know they are still working on it. It seems to be taking a very long time…hope they get those Poteets going soon. Those are taking a long time too. Hopefully they will be on line in early 15!

Barbara, thanks for the Poteet update. Merry Christmas to all!

THEY HAVE TDed THE LAST POTEET (AGAIN)!!! They haven’t gotten out of the hole but they are “circulating the hole” now. According to our sources they had TDed before and the hole collasped but they don’t expect that to happen again. Merry Day After Christmas or as some call it Bargain Hunting Day! lol Me I have a funeral to go to so they’ll just have to hunt without me. Never like to fight the crowds anyway!

OOps! One more…Since Oceana is now in the fracking stage would it be recorded somewhere as “completed”?

I was wondering why they flare gas off the well, when the pipeline is already connected?

Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday with your families! I have two questions this morning… 1. What is “TDed”? (Linda) and 2. is a well “completed” after or before fracking begins?

Thanks, Linda! that was very helpful

I would also really appreciate any info on Section 13-3S-4W

My sister and I have minerals in 12 3S 4W and got a note from one of Continental’s attorneys asking for proof of ownership so time to probate our parent’s wills and get some deeds. There is an approved permit to drill a multisection well in 13 and 12 that expires March 1st so hoping they strat drilling. Can anyone recommend a good attorney for this? We were thinking maybe someone from Duncan might be best but not sure.

Yes, Martha, it is good to hear from you again. I have missed your expertise! welcome back!

TDed means they have reached the Total Depth they are going. They circulate the hole to clean it up and to get the walls of the hole slick with mud so the drill pipe will pull back out better. If I can find the video about perforating and fracking I will post it. It explains how they shoot holes in the pipe (perforating) and then fracture (fracing) the shale with water, sand and chemicals to make it turn loose of the oil. Then they will “flow the well back” which means the water they put in will flow back out hopefully with a lot of gas pressure pushing it and lots of oil accompaning it. It takes several days/weeks for all this water, etc. to flow back out and when it does then it is “completed” and put on production. A permanant wellhead or “Christmas Tree” (how fitting) will be on top of the well and the oil will be flowing into the tank batteries which probably already have been set. When it goes on production and the first oil is sold is when you can start counting the six months they are allowed to get you your first check. They told me it will be for the first four months production and they will always keep you two months behind. From then on you should get a check for one month each month as long as the well keeps producing. If you have such a small amount that your check would be under (I believe) $25. they don’t have to send you a check until it reaches that amount (I may very well be wrong on that amount and welcome any corrections on any of this).

Thanks Linda, fracing soon I hope. Someone at CR said DOs on subsequent wells come quicker, I guess we’ll see.

Certainly welcome guys and gals! Here’s a video on drilling that I had on my favorites even though they have changed the video from the original which was really a good one.

I did have this and several other videos and reports on the discussion I had started but I just went back through all the discussions and couldn’t find mine for newbies.

Hutch…someone told me that you receive DO’s sooner after the first well but it didn’t happen for us. It took 6 months for us to get them even after the first well. Of course ours was Newfield and CR has only drilled one well on us so don’t know about them. I’d figure CR might do better on yours this time than the 8 months they took for your last time so they might avoid the interest they had to pay you on the first Poteet. Best Wishes friend on all these new wells!!!
