Stephens County, OK - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Yep, I’m here.

My sister and I are going through the same deliberation about selling but we’re in 17,1n,5w. We were offered about $15k per acre. There is only one well the Oceania and it appears to be a gas producer and not a big producer at that plus I think we’ll only get 48 percent of the royalty. Anyone got anything to encourage us?

Hubby was raised really poor! We BOUGHT most of our minerals with the money that he worked for while I stayed home and took care of the kids and housework. Our kids have never had to do without anything they needed and most of the things they wanted. We sent them both through college, paid for braces, ran them up and down the road for them to play football, baseball, basketball and golf, took them to Church and helped them get started in their married lives. They both made great young men! Our kids make more money than we ever thought about making at their age (they’re in their forties). I don’t think anyone loves their kids more than we do but I’m not sure that handing your kids something they didn’t work for helps them in the long run. They would probably appreciate more if they earned it. We are sharing our blessing with them while we’re still alive to watch them enjoy it. Don’t get me wrong I don’t intend to sell our minerals or the most of them anyway but if we decide we want to sell some or all of them I won’t be feeling guilty for sure.

John and others…if you go to the article link you posted and down to the bottom picture and click the arrow to advance the picture you can get the map they put on the second page even if you can’t get the excellent article.

cont…While the area is home to strong oil reserves, not all sections have the same potential, he said. Mikael said some of the best rock is in a narrow band of the SCOOP mostly controlled by CR. It’s still too early to know, however, how much of the region will be as successful, he said. “I think there are great economics here,” he said. “This is some of the best rock we’ve drilled in the lower 48. You should believe the hype. the only question is how long it will run.”

Where the …'s are I’ve left out some names. I’m sorry for any type-O’s as I didn’t have time to proof read. I just couldn’t pass up letting you know the “rest of the story” Goodnight!

Tina…if what Diane says is true of your royalty that might explain things. If your checks are small enough they can hold them until they reach a certain amount I believe before sending them. Think it might be $100. or it might be just $25…can’t remember but someone on here knows.

That’s good news Linda, thanks. Sure hoping they will be hauling out oil on the rest of them soon.

Marlow is in 2N 7W

Some operators hold royalty until it exceeds $100 and then mail a check. If you sign up for direct deposit, most will pay every month, despite how small the amount.

Thanks for all the info and encouragement. hope We can hold out but some things will have to wait until the first check…April to June time frame.

I thought the article was very interesting and positive for those with minerals in these areas!

Hey, Linda. I did read the article in the Oklahoman you mentioned (page 1 of the Business section) and found it very encouraging for us SCOOPers and STACKers! First time I had ever heard the term SOHOT.

You have to have a subscription to read all of article online.

cont…Good at current prices…“We think the SCOOP and STACK work at today’s oil prices,” said Pat McCelvey, Newfield’s region general manager. “Drilling and completion costs have come down, especially with the willingness of contractors to work with us. We’re relocating capital we might have spent in other basins into the Anadarko because that’s where we see the best results.”

Marathon is cutting the number of rigs it’s using in the area, but it’s regional Vice Pres…said the company still has high hopes for the region. “The stacked nature of these plays is becoming an incredibly valuable driver for our operational and nonoperational positions,” Hutching said. “We continue to benefit from broad exposure to attractive SCOOP and STACK plays. I think we will find more and more of the SCOOP and STACK plays that are viable even at current prices as we continue to increase production and lower cost.” THE END

My source for all this is the Oklahoman

Fracking equipment still on the Jerry well last night.

Fracking equipment still around the two Kelly wells we could see from highway 76 south of Lindsay. Can’t see the others now that the rigs are down.

Thanks, Michael. I was able to read all of it on my smartphone too.

I live in Dallas and really appreciate this forum and have learned a lot. I own minerals in sec 6 1n 6 w…anyone have info in that section.
