Three Forks Reservoir

I have mineral interests in McHenry County and wonder if the discovery of the Three Forks Reservoir in the Bakker has created interest in this area.

William,

I don’t imagine so. The Three Forks is just micro darcy reservoir rock below the lower Bakken Shale. Produced all over in the traditional Bakken area. Pretty sure there is no mature Bakken shale for oil generation in McHenry County. Basically if there is no Bakken production, there isn’t going to be any Three Forks production.

I just glanced at it, but I think the press release last week was just suggesting that the oil saturations in the Three Forks extend deeper than is traditionally produced. So there is more oil there. I personally don’t think this is much different than CLR etc press releases +/- 10 years ago about the potential of the 2nd Three Forks or 3rd Three Forks benches. Which made oil, but also made a lot more water, as one would expect.

I haven’t been Bakkening since 2016, so some nonzero possibility that I am talking out of my rear.
