I've just inherited my father's oil royalty, which I know almost nothing about. It has apparently been passed down from my great-grandfather through his eight children and so on. The share is quite diluted by now, but it was something my father was so proud to own and now I'm quite delighted with it. All I know is that it's part of the Thunder A 965 2H and is in Young county.
Does anyone else have royalties in this or know about it? I'm just looking for more information. I believe all the owners may be part of or descended from the Mobley family.
Danna,
is this Abstract 965 as I am not seeing a well called "thunder"?
Wow, thank you! Do you also own interest in this well or did you just look it up for me? Either way, thank you.
I just ordered a book that should help me understand some of this. Meanwhile, I remember my father talking about this as a fracking operation, but on the Completion Report, I see the answer to the question, "Was hydraulic fracturing treatment performed?" is "No". So, this is not a fracking operation? Excuse my ignorance. I'll catch on eventually but until then, I'll have a lot of basic questions.
Also, in the GIS map, I see a lot of plugged wells nearby. What exactly does this mean? It sounds like old wells that are not producing. They are awfully close together, so I wonder what difference it would make to make another well close to a plugged well.
Hello Danna,
No, I don't own interest in your well. I wish I did. I just try to help Forum Members with the little knowledge I have of oil and gas. Your right...this well was not fracked...HCL-Hydracloric Acid was used to jump start production in this formation. You're also right about the plugged wells..They are not producing any longer. Another well could possibly be drilled close to the plugged wells. Also there are several different formations in this area that are possible producers. Some of those formations are the Gunsite, Conglomerate, Strawn, Caddo and Mississippian. How many acres of minerals do you have in A-965? Hopefully enough for some more wells in the future.

I have absolutely no clue how many acres I have. All my information comes from the Young County Tax Assessor, which is quite limited. The company that writes the checks (would that be the producer or operator?) tells me I have a microscopic share (or so it seems).
Thanks for the names of the formations nearby. I'll google them tomorrow.
Does this mean anything to you?
