Dusty1 Thanks for all the information you really know your stuff. Yes there are more tank batteries there. There used to be one now I see about 3 of them. There is also a crude oil pipeline that runs very close to the wellsite and it’s been there 50 years or more and it’s in use. Again thank you for the “hands on” report on the RVW. It was flaring up the night sky for several nights and everyone for miles was curious as to what was actually taking place. Hopefully if it is a good producer of more valuable oil than perhaps more oil Wells will be pegged in the future.
Dusty, will this effect production with in the Tonkawa McMillen survey.
Chris, if what you are asking is whether the production from RVW well could effect the future production from the Tonkawa well, I don’t think that is possible.
All the production from the Tonkawa well is coming from a horizontal leg that is running at a depth of about 14700’ feet. The RVW well was drilled to max depth of 11200’. If EOG completes it at that max depth, in the Midway formation, the two producing zones would be 3500’ apart. If it turns out the Lower Wilcox is where EOG completes it then the two zones would be vertically separate by at least 6000’.
Thanks Dusty.
Hopefully in the future they will actually drill a vertical in the Mcmillen.
Well Chris that would be fantastic. We have to Keep out hope that the RVW TRUST UNIT will be a good producer and currently with the great price of a barrel of oil They probably will drill more in the vicinity.
Only problem is knowing how slow EOG RESOURCES operate we will probably die of old age before we see any new wells out in that area. Lol
actually, with the band on federal land, I think it would be sooner then later.
Tonkawa produced 81 plus million cubic feet of gas in February. That’s the best production since covid hit a year and a half ago. Dusty1 any suggestions on why the big swings in production? January totalled only 27 million cubic feet of gas. Also the oil tankers are coming steadily out of the Tonkawa RVW trust well site…Also a steady flare has been burning now for nearly a month. Its going to be interesting to see what oil production is going to be on the RVW.
Don’t have any idea about the reason for that variance but I’m curious about the source on that February production number. January is the latest numbers I’m seeing on RRC and CONG.
On the RVW, CONG show crude sales in February of 1835 barrels, which if it was on the full month would be 229 bpd. 706 and 704 barrel totals shown for December and January.
Dusty1,
Not really following your calculations on the February production on the RVW well, 1835/28 = 65.5 barrels per day?
RR, agree. Don’t know where that came from.
What I’ve seen of the tankers parked at the wellsite They are oil tankers not saltwater disposal trucks.
Dusty1 where the 81 mcfg came from was the February production report queries. Texas gov.
Correction…42 gallons per barrel approximately 8,000 gallons of oil in an oil tanker truck.
Nearby neighbors reported that one sometimes 2 oil tankers coming from the well site every day in March. Most oil tankers trucks can haul an average of 190 barrels of oil (45 gallons) at a time. Its still flaring although at a much reduced rate but a nearby resident said that over the last several days the well site was making a low thunder rumbling sound for the last several days. Interesting
Guess EOG finally pulled back he curtain a little bit on the RVW Trust well. It was drilled as a 11200’ vertical Wildcat, and according to the completion report, it went to the full permit depth but the speculation has always been EOG had completed it in the higher Wilcox formation. Since the put it on line in February it has averaged about 3 MMCF/day and 200 BPD, a decent vertical.
EOG filed a new permit application today for the RVW Trust 1 that included the statement that the RRC Proration Section had pointed out they had never changed the completion status on the well from Wildcat. This permit said they were now changing it to the Wilcox 8200’ formation, which appeared to be the only reason for the filing. The permit was called a “recompletion” when it seems like that type change should have been done as an amendment to their original permit but EOG often has their own way of doing things.
Yes they do have their ways of doing things and 8,200’ was far up hole above their objective! Sounds a little sketchy. I don’t think we have all the facts.
8,200 feet? The wilcox is 10,500 only 7 miles south in the Frelsburg Field. Never the less, another well seems appropriate. 8,200’ is a lot less expensive than a horizontal although the pay can be better. By the way, has anyone seen a division order for the RVW trust?
It would be nice if they drilled a couple more holes in theTonkawa1.
EOG released a little more information on their RVW Trust well.
On 12/17/21 they filed the completion report linked below to change its classification from oil to gas. It says the test had been run 2/25/21 and the well averaged 4423 MCF and 292 barrels of condensate per day.
