I was looking at okcountyrecords.com and noticed that there was a lot of leasing activity in this area. The leases were not available for preview or print. I am curious as to what type of activity is going on in the area because I have interests that were incorrectly listed as located in Township 1 South, Range 5 East, Section 7 instead of Township 1 South, Range 5 West, Section 7. I wonder if this is why I have not been approached with a lease. Any help or information is appreciated.

I don't see any activity in 7-1S/5W in the OCC database but since Marathon is the one taking most of the leases they probably have something at least on the drawingboard. If you own rights in that section I would contact Marathon's Land Department and find out who is leasing for them. They can probably help you clear up the mistake on your Deed or whatever documentation you have. You might want to do some research or seek professional advice before agreeing to the terms of a lease.
Brandon, if the deed has the description as 5East it did not convey the rights to you. There has been about 40 leases signed in 7-1S-5W and quite a few in the surrounding area. I'd expect to see some drilling in the next year or two in the area.
The interests were assigned and when the interests were assigned the range was incorrectly listed in the assignment as 5 East instead of 5 West. 5 East doesn't exist in Stephens County.

That would put it in Johnston County but I don't see it there either. I found a Pittard with a warranty deed but it didn't match your legals. You need to find out who prepared the assignment and if they filed it with a County clerks office. I have found the ladies at the Stephens County Clerks Office to be helpful maybe they could suggest what you can do.
