My father-in-law passed with rights in Burke County. I have contacted a lawyer about the process of transferring the rights to my wife. The fee would be around $2500. As far as I know there is no activity on the land. Is it worth paying the fee or just waiting until the land becomes active and pursuing it then? Assuming an oil company has to seek out the owner before drilling occurs? Thank you for any assistance.
If you want to give the section, township and range, we can confirm activity.
I’m not 100 % sure as all the paper work from his records say its T163N R93W. However, the GIS map viewer shows his name listed on T162N, R94W. Thanks !!!
It is possible he owns in more than one place. Do you have a section?
163N-93E has activity, mostly in sec 5/8 2/11 and some in 14, 23 and 22. A bit of leasing in several other sections in the last three years.
162N-94W has leasing activity in the last three years in almost all sections. Horizontal wells in 18/19, 14/23
163N-93W Section 06: LOts 3,4,5; SE 1/4NW1/4 Section 07 Lots 1, 2; E1/2NW1/4; NE1/4 Section 08 NW1/4 Thanks!!
No leasing in any of those sections over the last few years.
Formentera Partners has a horizontal well in section 5/8 which was drilled in 2012. It is still online, so you may have royalties due from it. You should contact their division order department and see what you meed to do to get into pay. They will probably require a probate, but not all companies do. AV-H OSBORN-163-93-0508H-1
Thank you so much for all your help. The horizontal well you mentioned in 5/8, the implication is that the well is physically located on an adjacent section and may run under our section?
