Unpaid Mineral rights, no knowledge of how any of this works

My sisters and I have mineral rights from our paternal grandmother, we were told over the years from our mother and received communication from an company once over the years about them selling to a new company… better company was willing to help in any way with any information… The only living relative from my father’s side with any info is unwilling to help and I’m am just recently being made aware of the fact that we may have supposed to of been receiving some type of royalty payments since the age of 18… I am not sure where to start looking for help or answers… I have found the well name and lease number I believe but any info or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you

The first thing you need to do is to establish ownership. The requirements will differ from state to state. You should consult with an attorney who is knowledgeable about oil & gas titles in the state where the mineral rights are located.

If you are in Texas and need some helpful insight to the well, its location, who leases it etc., log on to TRRC (Texas Railroad Commision" webpage. Its a daunting task to go through but if you take your time searching in this webpage, it will get you started and help you know more information. I have recently recieved heirship to gas leases in 2020 and have been ran through the ringer with all this stuff.

I will be happy to help you in any way i can.
