The accuracy of the recent tax bills from Reeves CAD (based on what I have seen) was much improved from the fiasco of previous years. Capitol and Reeves CAD seem to be getting on top of straightening out the billings, although much work remains to be done on cleaning up the mess they inherited. Wells seemed to be accurate and complete. They mostly came in one batch, rather than multiple “supplemental” billings. They have even started processing refund requests. In short, a big improvement by Clayton Snyder and his staff.
This is very good news. The past few years have been an enormous burden on Reeves County mineral owners due to the problems at Reeves CAD.
I agree and I even felt comfortable paying electronically for the first time in years. They still didn’t get all my paying wells so I think there will be supplemental but they have come a long way!
I have a set of wells that started production in 2023 that weren’t on my 2024 bills. So they’re not quite caught up yet, but they are much better than in previous years.
I also have wells that started production in 2023 but have not received my 2024 tax statement. I called Capital and they said despite numerous requests they have not received the necessary data from the production company to be able to generate 2024 tax statements. For once this can not be blamed on Reeves.
