Hi all,
Does anyone know what is happening with Newfield’s Vincent well, on 159N 102W, sections 15/22. It has been on the confidential list greater than 6 months. Aren’t well supposed to pop off list at that point and declare themselves? MSN

In ND, all permits are considered confidential but the true confidential period does not begin until the operator requests confidential status, mostly after they drill to total depth, but not necessarilly. Operators are not afraid of the state of ND, they do not feel they have to file reports on time, the most I have seen the state do is write a letter where you can tell they are not pleased but no mention of penalty if the operator does not comply. An operator could drill a well, wait til it is fracked, having submitted no reports, then ask for confidential status. Then too, just because a well is on the confidential list doesn't mean it's been drilled yet. I look for the date wells are to come off confidential status before I believe that they are drilled. If there is no date when a well will come off confidential status, likely there is not yet a well.
the State gets behind on the confidential lists..NDIC file is 20264 no spud date (not kosher...that should be part of the confidential data available to the public. Not much info there...you could call the oil and gas division and get the spud date and the date the well comes off confidential status.
r w kennedy is right but they still have to post the spud date (the date that drilling commenced)
