Before my Father passed away, he gave me a letter from some Attorneys in Tulsa (Huffman & Thomas) that I believe provide Mineral Rights to 640 acres in Ellis County. These letters/notices have been filed with the Court Clerk’s Office- Tulsa Corporation Commission of Oklahoma. One letter shows’ the Applicant as Newfield Exploration Mid-Continent Inc. Another shows Newfield Exploration and a Notice of Hearing for Drilling and Spacing Units for the Big Lime and Atoka in Section 28, Township 19 North, Range 25 West. I attempted to gather information from the afore mentioned attorneys and really did not receive any real information. Any suggestions on where and how to get accurate information and where to start? JH
County records online here however there are date limitations I believe. https://okcountyrecords.com/
Condolences on your loss.
-Did you inherit the mineral rights? If so, there are several steps you need to take to make sure that the landmen and companies can find you.
-If you did, you will not own the entire 640 acres. There are at least 74 owners if not more.
-There are two producing wells which have been online since 2010 and 2011. Was your father getting royalties? You will need to contact EOG Resources Division Order department to see if he is owed back royalties and what you need to do to get the proper heirs their portion.
You can find out about the wells by looking them up on the OCC well records site.

You can look up the regulatory cases for the section by using this link. http://www.occeweb.com/caseprocessingonline/default.aspx
Newfield and EOG have had cases before the court.
Do some looking to get caught up and then come back with your questions.
https://okcountyrecords.com/search/ellis#advanced-search Use this for Ellis County. Search your father’s name in the township and range.
