Why an Oil Broker

Just wrapped up negotiations with El Paso Energy for a ROW agreement and Surface Use Agreement . The checks I received were not from EP Energy, but from Transcontinent Oil Company out of Denver. My question is why would EP get a broker involved? Are they going to sell the lease or what might be their intentions?

Thanks Larry

There is a TCO Land Services out of Denver which acts as agent on behalf of other companies. This is not uncommon. The agent may not tell you that his company has been contracted to handle an agreement. Sometimes payment is from lessee and sometimes paid by agent’s company and they are reimbursed by the lessee. It can be far less expensive than hiring an employee.
