In researching information contained in the "well file" I noticed different sized chokes noted on each well. I know these are to restrict flow, but I'm sure that is an over simplification.
I can think of all kinds of nefarious reasons but I would like to know more about the reasons for use of these devices. Other than "not showing their hand". It's a very slow evening.
Deloris:
The choke's ultimate goal is to regulate pressure thus regulating well flow. Depending on the amount of down hole pressure, various size chokes must be utilized. The choke serves as a control device for the well.
One reason for various size chokes is the ability of the producer to take away the product and his capacity
to store that product until it is shipped.

The choke reserves adequate pressure to drive the heavier hydrocarbons to the surface.
