Wolfcamp Reeves Co., TX

I am curious if the operators that have drilled in sections 12, 14, and 24 Blk 51 T-8-S are producing from the Wolfcamp a, b, c, or d or all of the above? Is there pontential for Wolfcamp stacked play here? I am small mineral owner here. The total vertical depth of the first well drille in Section 12 was 10,594’ with a TD of 14,888’ The lower Wolfcamp may contain lots of water I do not know. Any help here is appreciated, LedP

Its pretty much upper Wolfcamp producing there. At least in those sections, 10200’-10700’ of depth.

People use different nomenclature. I would call that Wolfcamp XY,A,B. I tend to lump anything within about 500’ of the top of the Wolfcamp into the same bucket. These are in that bucket. For instance in Sec 11/14 the wells are staggered across the section. Upper wells 10250ish, lower wells 10500ish.

In the South end of 51T7s Chevron drills some 2nd Bone Spring wells also, they seem ok. They have also drilled some deeper WC zones (they call them C).

In short, yeah I think there is more than one bench in that area to drill. I would guess in the long run each mile wide unit should get 12+ wells in it. Might be a very long run. I am saying all of this just based on what seems to work around here, have looked at zero logs.

What is meant by Wolfcamp X/Y? I’ve long wondered. The US E.I.A. labelled four Wolfcamp benches A, B, C, D in their July 2019 paper “Permian Basin Wolfcamp and Bone Spring Shale Plays”. The industry later began referring to something called Wolfcamp X/Y. Coterra refers to Wolfcamp A & B as “Upper Wolfcamp”. I could never find a definition for Wolfcamp X/Y.

Wolf X/Y: Sandy zones at the very top of the Wolfcamp. I’m not a geologist. I have no time to look at infinite logs. I know where the Wolfcamp top is pretty much everywhere, but from there I just label things by how far they are below the top of WC, strat markers be darned. So I pretty much call anything right below the Wolfcamp top “Wolf XY”. Shrug.

Basically, equivalent to the Dean SS section seen in the Midland Basin are to the east. Time equivalent depositional event.
