The Woodford Forum was "good". It was partially a repeat of last year which was an "ah-ha" and "great". So I was a little biased. Might have been the three hours of sleep I had the night before, so if it wasn't stunning, I was struggling. That said, the play is expanding and some wells are surprising companies by being up dip and in areas that were thought to be "too cooked". The liquids are migrating up dip and getting trapped. So that is good news.
A couple of talks were on the different experiments they are trying on the infill drilling. Different companies do it different ways, but I am expecting quite a lot of infill drilling once the acreage is drilled with one well and protected by HBP. That is going to take years! If folks want to see some good pictures of infill drilling, I would suggest perusing the Investor Presentations of Continental Resources, Newfield, Marathon, Cimarex, Devon and look at what is going on in the Bakken, Eagle Ford and Woodford. What works in one area will be tried on another.
Along the lines of what Jeanie just posted, the Professional Development Institute of North Texas has conferences all over. I attended this one last year and it was one of the most helpful big picture looks at royalties. Fantastic speakers at a national level, accounting practices, long term outlook on Natural Gas, how leasing contracts vary from state to state.
Hi, Rick, it is good to see your smiling face on this forum! We always appreciate your comments and good information that you have shared on the other forums. Welcome!
Have been following the forums for a while and find it interesting since I used to log the wells down in grady area and did petrophysical well analysis and now on the pipeline end and been great to see the mineral lease come thru. Grea to see all the drilling
Our interests are in Canadian County, but we follow the Stephens County and Grady County activity as well. They have quite spirited discussions in the Grady County Forum and it is fun and informative to follow. Robert, you have experience in this O&G business so you will be a good source of information for all of us. Where is your primary area of interest in the Woodford Shale?
Diane, I don't know where everyone went...probably on vacation someplace cool. I love it when M. Barnes is on this forum, she is a very interesting contributor.
Yes, if you have a river or stream, you may either gain or lose "acreage". Seems kind of odd since it is really the surface owner who gains or loses, but they assign the new survey to the center of the earth.
I just found this one today. Go to the Chaparral Energy investor presentation for June to UBC. It has some great pictures and a good overview of the reservoirs and who is playing what. Also some good general blob maps of the different areas.
