Doddridge County, WV - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

A few years ago Consol / CNX bought a lot of leases and wells from Dominion, at least in Ritchie County and probably around WV. There is probably some kind of partnership they have. Dominion wanted to focus on its transmission/pipeline activities. At least that is what I remember.

Does anyone know anything about Dominion Transmission Inc.?

I need some general advice from a lawyer. I have left messages for a few, and they have never returned my call. I talked with a couple of lawyers that were too busy. I’ve even tried to reach Kyle Nuttall, but no response. Does anyone know of an attorney that has knowledge of the oil and gas leases and is willing to take new clients? Thx in advance for any suggestions!

LYR, i know what you mean about trying to find a lawyer. i spent 2 weeks trying to contact them. I left a message for Kyle on here, I called lawyers offices I found in phone book and left messages with their secretaries and even went to their websites and left messages. Never heard from one of them. so I figured no one cared enough to want a new client and there wasn’t anything else I could do, so I went ahead and signed. I just hope and pray i did right thing. I sincerely hope you have better luck. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Tammy, I think Dominion Transmission Inc. is a pipeline company.

Thank you Charlene. I absolutely need some legal advice though…so I’ll just keep on trucking, as they say, and hope to find one soon.

Tammy: does this help??

Dominion Transmission, Inc., headquartered in Richmond, Va., is the interstate gas transmission subsidiary of Dominion. The company is primarily a provider of gas transportation and storage services.

Dominion operates one of the largest underground natural gas storage systems in the United States with links to other major pipelines and to markets in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions of the United States. We maintain 7,800 miles of pipeline in six states — Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland and Virginia. We store and transport large quantities of natural gas for large customers, such as major utilities and power plants. Dominion Transmission also is a producer and supplier of natural gas liquids at facilities in West Virginia and Maryland.

Nancy/Tammy, Nancy, you hit it right on the head, I was getting royalty checks from dominion for years until the merger, I now get checks from CNX.

Does anyone know how far in advance the oil company will get the Permit to drill?

thanks~

Question: I own 1/2 of 23 acres of land with mineral rights, on my statement of taxes from the County (Doddridge) it shows just 1/2 int 23.5A, does one get a separate bill for the mineral rights OR are they included with the land taxes??. All of you that have land W/mineral rights should be able to answer this question POST HASTE. THANKS. OH, my deed on this shows that we do own Mineral Rights.

Not sure about Doddridge. If you have a map and parcel number on your tax ticket, that means surface included (maybe only surface). “1/2 int” sounds like 1/2 fee (generally means surface and all minerals including coal etc. ) Sometimes things don’t get recorded correctly in the assessor’s office so they might not have it right. I believe that you would just get one bill, for both aspects, unless you somehow acquired the surface and the minerals different ways, after they had already been separated. You could ask the assessor’s office what they mean by that kind of tax ticket.

Thanks Nancy, I own 1/2 interest in the 23.63A and thats exactly how the tax statement reads, never questioned it before since it is leased with EQT, and has been leased with others in the past (expired), Since the tax statement does not show minerals >“just wondering”, but I like you, think that the mineral rights are included. Sometimes I worry about NOTHING, but than again???.

The way to know For Sure is to trace your title back as far as you can. Not easy from long distance. “They say” go back to the Land Grant. I have done that for a few of our interests. Easier said than done.

Arnold do you have an old lease on the well? The farm maps can be attached. The split estate (minerals separate from surface) sure does make it hard for folks who are not from the area to understand. Nancy had advise me to look for the contracts for the mineral rights under the operator’s name in the Doddridge county records page. That was time consuming, but it worked! I found good information. Unfortunately, they won’t let you print from the site. You can order them. I did print screens of the pages and copied and pasted them into word for working documents so I can keep it straight while researching. I will compile a list to send to the courthouse to be printed as I gather enough stuff to be printed. It is 1.50 for the first two pages and then $1 per page after that.

Antero is to drill a well in Doddridge County called the Bunner Unit does anyone know anything about this? Were to drill early 2015 and they gave us 41,000 to sign a five year lease so this makes me think they are going to be doing it. I know 41,000 may not be alot to the Oil and Gas company but I can’t see giving out that kind of bonus for signing the lease and then not doing anything.

Thanks Stephanie, Since the 23 acres have been leased twice, I am now going to assume that not only do I own 1/2 of the land, but also mineral rights as well. The last lease was was with EQT in 2012.

Antero just called me yesterday and said that the Bunner Unit was up to be a “spud” date of July, 2016 and the Tabor Unit was to be a “spud” date of July, 2016. So at least they did call me back, so it was moved back 6 months, but they said this too could always change, so just hoping for the best.

Sorry that was to be Bunner Unit JULY 2015/

Katrina, how many acres did you lease to Antero, and what was you percentage you own, in the total acres. just trying to get an idea on what is being offered and actually given, Did they issue the check right away or is there a waiting period?
Thanks

Eleanor, yes they had the check in one hand and lease in the other. I have three different leases in Doddridge County one of them is 69 acres. I will have to check and see for sure on that lease for the percentage we own and the acres. But yes we had the check at the same time. Thanks
