Update on Howard Co. action

Permian Pure Play Athlon Beats Estimates With Vertical Wolfberry Production

Athlon (ATHL) had a very good Q3, which is a bullish signal this soon after its IPO. It is a unique investment, with horizontal exposure to Howard County. Howard County has seen significant vertical development. This has provided very good information as to its geology and prospects at deeper intervals. Its core acreage is not only unique, as there are a limited number of small cap oil producers in the Midland Basin, but also due to its Howard County leasehold.

Mr. Wascom, Thanks for the update on Howard County developments. Our family has land leased (finally) in Section 5 Block 31 and Section 45 Block 31… i think it is just southeast of Big Spring. Hopefully activity will move our way. jhh

Does anyone know if the old leases still hold up? Continuously producing since the 1920’s. Do the current land owners have any rights because of the Pugh clause to keep long term mineral rights owners from getting benefits from current or future drilling? Original lease was for that owner and all future descendants to receive benefit from drilling and proceeds…not exact words but that is it in nutshell.

Cheryl, from what i know… leases are still valid with continuously producing wells. you’ll need to get a response from someone a lot smarter on the pugh clause.

anyone happy or unhappy with Nantucket Resources? Am considering their offer, so am searching their credibility. Nothing posted on BBB.

Nantucket Resources is a royalty interest buyer who offers a fraction of the true value of your interest if held over time. You may get some fast money but it will be a fraction of what it’s worth if held for the royalty benefit from production. They generously offer me 60k for an interest that paid 21k the first month of production. It will likely last 10 years or more. Fortunately I didn’t take it. Your call.

Richard,

If you need the cash, you may want to consider a royalty loan, instead of selling your minerals.

The rule of thumb I use when buying producing minerals is anywhere from 50 to 60 months times average monthly revenue (much less if the average is based on the first year of shale production). So, on that basis you can judge whether Nantucket is being fair.

Great factual guidance there Donald. Can you refer me to a qualified oil/gas tax specialist?

Michael and April,

I see where 5 wells have been permitted in A-1323/Blk 31/Sec 36 since 1997. API # 227-35429 and 227-35356 were approved in 1999 but I’m not sure these wells were ever drilled.

API # 227-35155 Gas well-Drilling Completed 4/1997(Wolfcamp Formation) 8,000’ No completion report found.

API # 227-35371 Oil well-Drilling completed 9/1999(Wolfcamp Formation)7,850’ No completion report found.

API # 227-32603 Oil well-Drilling completed 11/2000 (Wolfcamp Formation)8,300’ No completion report found.

All 5 of these approved permits were for Santa Fe Snyder Corporation. Numerous Oil/gas wells in the surrounding area. Howard County is a good county to have minerals in.

Good news for Howard County from Athlon

“The Abel 18 #3H confirms management’s technical assessment of the tremendous resource potential that our Howard County acreage position offers for both high-rate-of-return vertical and horizontal development,” said CEO Bob Reeves. “The company is looking forward to our initial dedicated horizontal rig in Howard arriving in the first quarter of 2015, as we move from the evaluation to the execution phase.”

I have been approached to lease in Howard Co. for $500/acre and 1/4 interest. Is this a good bonus or is it a bit low? Thanks!

Does anyone know of any activity in Section 12, Block 34, T-2-N T & P RR Co. survey? Also what can you tell me about Cobra Exploration?

Greetings! I have land in the w/2 of the NW/4 of section 40, block, 32, T-3-N, T&P RY CO. survey, Howard County, Texas, containing 80 acres more or less. I would appreciate any news about this area as far as Production, Drilling, Longevity, etc. I know a new well has been drilled there, but don’t know when it will be brought on line? Any feedback will be appreciated…djs

Donald,

Check your Block and Section #'s again and make sure they are right. Also If you have an Abstract # that is better. After trying to pull up your minerals on the GIS Mapping System this is what I got:
