Cody - Thanks - I’ll give them a call
I think LMD assigned leases to Laredo. You should check the courthouse records for an assignment with your lease on it.
@Jennifer B - Would you feel OK giving me Marcus Khoury’s email address or cell number? I called the number Cody gave me but the service said “the party you are calling is not available”…I left a message but feel that it might not have been the right number. I really would like to find out what Wade Stevens did with the notarized paperwork I gave him and why my family has not received any funds for the lease. We are all in the Houston area and do not know the lay of the land in Mitchell County so we really have know way of knowing if there is any activity on the section in question. Thanks in advance.
@Michael, message me if you need that help.
LMD Energy is the leasing peeps for Legacy out of Oklahoma. They have an office in Dallas and an office in Midland. There have been several landman that are currently still signing land that hasn’t been signed as of yet. We have contact with a Marcus Khoury from the Dallas office that is working with them.
@Jennifer B - thnaks a bunch…got a busy day today but will either drop Marcus an email or give him a call when I can. Thanks again.
Does anyone know if Sec 16 Blk 28 T&P RC Survey has been leased by any company??
Sure thing; I tracked him down by calling the whole country (not really but it felt like it) lol LMD Energy LLC Marcus Khoury 817-437-8911 his email is [email protected] I just spoke to him on Friday, this is a good number. Let me know if you reach him. I live in Mitchell County so if y’all need help let me know; I’m not a professional but I know a little bit of the work they are doing as far as landman work.
I’ve been lurking for a little while, catching up on all the news. Thank you to all who have so freely shared info! This group is a tremendous help to those of us who live far away. My brother and I have some mineral rights in a farm our Daddy (Tubb Harlow) owned on the west side of Lake Colorado City – Block 27, Section 57 T&P. Does anyone know if there have been any leases signed in that area? Thanks!

On the Promised Land forum I posted 2 URLs concerning fracking. The first is an excellent essay at American Thinker about documentaries on Fracking. “FrackNation” will premiere on Mark Cuban’s cable channel, AXS.TX on Jan 22nd at 9 pm EST.
http://www.americanthinker.com/2013/01/dueling_documentaries_frackn…
The essay also cites a report from New York state that was suppressed in the 2012 election about the safety of fracking. The story was reported here.

Please use these resources to educate others about how important this is to America and to fight the mis-information campaign that is ongoing.
Sharron drilling info shows 4 leases in the last 36 month in section27 blk 57. One by lincoln land and title and 3 by LMD energy the who had the most recent recorded 10/11/2012 a Tom Bennett.
Mickie, I just read your note again. Our interest is in Section 57 block 27. I think I should have written it in that order, not the way I had it originally (Block 27, Section 57).
Ralph James Turner, Those articles about fracking had good information. Maybe you will remind us on the 22nd about the special that is to air on AXS.TV? Didn’t know that was Mark Cuban’s channel. Isn’t it the one that has good music? Toni
Thanks for the advice about not going looking for a leasor, Mickie. Sounds wise to us! Yes, please let me know if you find anything on Section 57 block 27 – unless you have to pay each time you look for something on the Drilling info site. If that’s the case, don’t bother.
Sharon, I got a new ownership map and I was hoping it would shed some light on your question about Sec 57 Blk 27 T&P. The size of each section is 1 1/4 inches, so there’s not a lot of room for them to write lease information in.
Most of that section is Lake C City. On the land portion, it shows the NW/4 as Rivera Brothers, the S/2 as D. C. Stubblefield and G. Hemphill etal. I don’t know specifically where you are west of the lake, but I can give you a couple of local names that you may wish to call and ask about the leasing status. There are no O&G company names listed on the map that show it has been leased, but if people who purchased lots around the lake got their minerals and leased, there would not be room to list them.
David Stubblefield (or Melody) would be the local contact who may have information regarding the Stubblefield acreage. (325) 728-8031. Maybe D. C. was David’s grandfather, I am not sure.
Mike Hemphill who owns Mitchell County Utilities would be the man to ask for the Hemphill family. He supplies gas and water to many of the lake residents, has lived there a long time, and would probably know about leasing in his area. (325) 728-5092 is his MCU number.
You could also call Mitchell County Abstract at (325) 728-2601 and speak to Mr. Brookshear. I don’t know if he has time to look up specific things like that, or what he charges. I know if you go in and look yourself it is $100 per hour. That sounds high, but his information is indexed by Section number, so you can see every transaction that has been recorded since the original Texas land patents.
Each transaction has the grantor/grantee name, date it was done, date of recording, type of transaction, and volume and page number. From there you can look up specific conveyances at the county clerk’s office, using the volume and page number. Among everything that is recorded, there will be O&G company leases, and information about whether a lease has been sold to another company.
Sorry, that may have been more information than you were asking, but it might give you an idea how to proceed to obtain what you are needing.
Toni
Sharon, You are very kind.
Bill’s brother Mike had supper with us last night and Bill and Mike are good friends with Joe Rivera. Mike said Joe just leased, so give him a call. Might be an opportunity for you and your brother if you are ready to lease. Joe could put you in touch with whomever he leased to. I know he has held out a while, thought he had it leased a time or two, something would fall through in the deal. I am so happy he got it done this time. He’s absolutely one of the nicest men I know. Good luck to y’all!
If you come and research, plan on a couple of days. It does take time to sift through all those documents, but it’s not too hard once you figure out the system. I would be happy to show you what I know, it would take about 2 minutes! Jennifer B on this site has been doing this a while, and now she is doing family research. She would really be an asset if you hired her to help you.
Thanks, Toni. That’s a big help. You’re amazing!
We sold the farm a couple of years ago to the Rivera brothers. Guess I should have mentioned that. Joe had leased it for years, so we were glad they were able to buy it. My brother tried to call him last month but it was during the holidays, so I’m not sure he got hold of him. I need to check that. We’ve been super busy with sick, elderly in-laws and haven’t had time to even think about the farm and mineral rights.
I really appreciate getting the names of the other folks, so we can check with them. A man called Billy in December wanting to BUY the mineral rights, but we told him no thanks. <g> He was offering $2000 an acre. Probably the same guy as in the paper. He said Billy and I had joint rights on 22 acres of the 96 acre farm, but we don’t know how accurate that is.
We dealt with Mr. Brookshear when we sold the farm. He was extremely helpful and nice. But I expect they’re very busy these days. Maybe going down there and researching it myself is a good excuse for a trip to Texas. <g>
I’m saving your note in my file. Thank you so very much!
Sharon
Toni, I just talked to Joe. The property he leased isn’t “our” farm but some other land they own. So I’ll call the Stubblefields and Mr. Hemphill and see if they know anything.
Thanks, Mickie. How do I find that info? Is it somewhere online? (I live in Washington state.) Does it show or say exactly where the leases are? I apologize if the search criteria is somewhere on the forum. I’ve read so many posts in the last two days, my eyes are crossing.
Sharron order did not matter. Drilling info is a paid for site. Best advise I can give you is do not go looking for leasor. They will come to you and you will have more credit in negotiating. Unless you are willing to accept any offer. If this play turns out to be as good as it has been hyped you will be able to demand much more. We just need some good production from some early wells and we will be golden.
