Mitchell County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Oh sharron I see you did have it in reverse sorry I will advise on new sec. and blk.

Have any of you heard much about propane being used in fracking instead of so much water?

Here is a website you all should be able to go to and you can look up court house filings on leases, etc. Hope it help

www.edoctecinc.com

let me know

I’m looking at the gisweb.glo.texas.gov map. The legend says a solid red dot is BOT and an open red circle is LOC. What do BOT and LOC stand for? Thanks.

I sent the website, you should be able to look up various deeds leases in Mitchell county and elsewhere, these are court house documents, you might try there, hope it helps

Thanks, Rebecca. I did look at it but couldn’t figure out how to look something up without names. There must be a way – I just didn’t figure it out. I only know a couple of people with land near our rights.

Thanks, Mickie. I’ve talked to a couple of people in that area, and it doesn’t appear there have been any leases around there. Hopefully with new budgets, Devon or somebody will come back in and like our side of the lake.

I though LOC was probably location, but couldn’t figure out the BOT. So, when there is a LOC and a red line horizontal going from it to BOT, does that mean they drill at LOC and the bottom of the well is, or will be, at BOT? I feel like I’m in “Oil Well Kindergarten.” <g>

Thanks, BPowell. Unfortunately, I live in Washington state, so I’ll have to make a trip to Texas if I want to go to the abstract office. I did look on the TRRC website and didn’t see any drilling activity in our area.

It’s 96 acres in the Northwest One-Fourth of Block 27, Section 57. We have some interest, as does Joe Rivera and possibly (probably) others. We don’t know for sure how it’s divided up.

Sorry - Colorado City, Mitchell County Area

BPowell, ours is currently under an old lease so no new leases for us. Sharon Gillenwater, I believe you can check by grantor / grantee and follow it backwards. I can’t remember exactly; it’s been awhile. You can also check thru Surety title but you pay a one time fee; cheaper than by the hour.

Thanks, Jennifer. I’ll tuck that info away about Surety. I managed to trace back to when my dad bought it from the Veterans Land Board, so not very far. Even that deed didn’t have any specific info about the mineral rights.

Sharron I looked up your sec. and blk again and the search for leases did not show any. But drilling info leases are not always updated. I believe that BOT is bottom of the well bore and Loc is site location. A year or so ago I was researching our minerals and called the Mitchell county clerk she explained where and how to research thire deeds online. I do not remenber the site but do remember it was the best online records I had ever seen for free. If you figure how to use it you should be able to research the leases recorded. Oh wow just noticed that Rebecca already posted the web site.

Sharon, We ALL in oil well kindergarten Don’t feel bad…

I took edoctecinc off my computer, Mr. Everett thought it made it slow or something. If I still had it I would show you how to nagivate it.

Its divided into old land records and newer ones. The old records are harder to look up. The page numbers the index gives do not always match up with the page numbers in the books where they are recorded. And they are really slow to pull up.

The newer land records, which I think are titled “land records”, are from about 1969 until present day. They are much simpler. You can just type in the last name of a grantor or grantee. It has a drop down box and you can specify a range of years, and bring up several documents. You click on the one you want to view. Correct me if that’s not right Becky, it’s been a while since I used it, and I’m going from memory.

I see now from your information below you don’t know the grantor names. If you just put in the oil co name as grantee and left grantor blank, you would have many many documents come up, and it probably wouldn’t help you.

Without names you would be better off looking by section and block at the abstract office. I think.

Thanks, Toni. I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels like they’re in kindergarten! Since I only know a few grantor names, I came to the same conclusion about using edoctecinc. Joe said he’d let us know if there was any interest or if he heard anything. I think for now, I’ll just relax, keep up with things here on the forum, and wait for a land man to call us. I sure will be glad when the C-City Record gets their online version back up and running. I miss being up to date on the local news.

If you want to look up title by your section, go to the abstract and title company in Colorado City. They can point you to the right records, but there will be a charge by the hour. You might ask the company that leased you. You can check drilling activity records on the TRRC website for free. The easiest way is to open up the map and click abstract/section and you can search the map by a block & section or by an abstract number. It shows the wells and you can click on each well and see the information. By the way, BOT is the bottom hole location (the end of the well) and LOC is the surface location.

Sharon

Which part of Block 27, Section 57 do you own in? I may know someone who is interested in leasing your interest.

Jennifer:

If you are in the Section 16 in the NW part of the county it probably has old wells on it. If you are in the Section 16 in the south part of the county, there is production in the north part and leases for Devon and some company called Quanah? in the south half. Not sure who Quanah represents.

Your correct Toni, sorry I have been very busy and miss getting on the site, can update you all now, Sold 10 acres with Mr.Dillard up by the FSA office, a new hotel is going in there, I sold 3 acre on west side of old delinting plant, so 10 acres by the old LaPlaya Club on I-20 & FM 1229 to a trucking co, and I am working with several other businesses, however I cannot divulge who I am working with at the current time or prices, but there are businesses coming to the area

I still have that site on my computer, yes that is correct you can only go back so far, however, I found deeds and records of other permits on our land one that was in 1942 with Dockery Oil Co, and then in 1968 with Shell oil, it was using that web site, to go back further in history you can go to the county Court house, I think they charge,…Kathy at Surety Title is very good, she has not charged but she is only one person there and very busy right now…you can go to the surety Title website for a fee

Rebecca, thanks for the tip about the Surety website. I was able to trace our rights back farther than I had before. Not sure, but I think I got to “the end.” Or guess that should be “the beginning.” There was an older deed (1928) mentioned in one from 1963 that we might need to look up at the courthouse or abstract office some day. But I don’t think it changes anything – if I’m reading it right.
