Mitchell County, TX - Oil & Gas Discussion archives

Mr. Turner said Mark Cuban owns it. I have been paying more attention to their programming since Mr. Turner posted about it. They show JAG a lot. Some music concerts, some less heard of artists. We have DISH network, just the middle of the road programming package, it’s on there.

I just looked through Dish programming and I believe it is 362. Dan Rather is coming on just before.

What is AXS.TV? We are in DFW area and I’ve not heard of it.

An optimistic note, Rebecca, about preparing in the C. City area! Any idea what kind of hotel or when it will begin and/or be completed?

Hello Diana : ) It’s at 8 pm

On AT&T U-verse it’s on Channel 1106 at 8:00 p.m. CST,

Good Morning! Just a reminder that tonight is the special on AXS.TV about the well frac process that Ralph James Turner posted information about a few days ago. Set your DVRs!

Seibold, that’s good news about more new businesses coming in. Nice job!

Any idea what time the show is on, CST?

I had the same only my well is an old vertical and has been producing for years. I was told there was a problem with the well and they was thinking of drilling a new well. But the lease is still good under terms. I believe they are trying to get around my vertical pugh clause so they can either sell the rights for a cline shale well or drill one themselves. Got watch these guys closely.

I have a question for all of you. Since I know a little about the law but not much about “drillin” I was wondering why I was approached to extend a lease (for the same terms) on property for which I recently got a division order and which is producing. The lease was for 3 years and has 9 more months to run. By the terms of the lease, it remains in force and effect as long as it is producing. What am I missing?

Thanks for the response. This property is in Bordon County about 2 miles south of Gail which is on Hy 180. That’s about 30 miles due west of Snyder and about the same due east of Lamesa.

The standard used to be “production in paying quantities” to hold the lease. Now, who knows? Does seem odd. Maybe they aren’t sure how long the well will be viable?

George, I would agree 100% with Mr. Byrd in this regard. If your lease does include a pugh clause, at the end of the next 9 months and continuous development period (usually 180 days) all the lands contained in your lease that aren’t held by 40 or 80 acre proration/producing units, will be released. The oil company that currently has this lease does not want those lands to be released because then they will have to pay you more bonus money just like they did when you signed this current lease. Due to the high volume of drilling and the price of oil, it can be very difficult to get a drilling rig in a timely manner.

George, Energen is infill drilling the old Westbrook field. The RRC reduced their spacing requirements and they are drilling in between the old wells. Some of these will be injection wells as the whole field has been under water flood for over 40 years. These wells are very low producers but with today’s oil prices it is still feasible to continue drilling. The formation they are drilling in is not related to any of the new Cline or Mississippi activity. It is amazing that the old Westbrook field is still kicking after all of these years. Actually, the Abrams 1 in the Westbrook field was the discovery well for the Permian Basin. Bill Everett

Thanks for info on channels. Any info on Firewheel well and future drills by them?

Thanks for the heads up on FrankNation, which I watched and recorded. Excellent program that I highly recommend to any who missed it.

Has anyone noticed that 40 drill permits have been submitted for Mitchell County since 1/1/13? All but 3 were submitted by Energen for vertical wells at a depth of 4000 feet. These are shallow in comparison to wells being drilled in the area. Make me wonder what is going on…

Thanks Bill, good information…

Bill is exactly correct and Abrams #1 has been producing for 92 years.

I wonder how many anti-fracking people watched Fracknation. I’m afraid that those who SHOULD have watched it, didn’t. I watched it and was glad to have a few concrete arguments for my anti-fracking friends.
