I’ve been reading with keen interest and really appreciate all the info and comments on this forum. I have mineral interests in Section 89, Block 97, and am trying to educate myself in order to make the best possible decisions. Is anything happening in this area? Thank you.
@ Toni Everett; Blk 97 is just to the top and left of the middle of Blk 27 North. H&TC Blk
Hello there Mitchell County Forum participants. Although I am a new comer in joining the conversation, I have been reading the very informative and interesting comments over the last 4 months or so. It is a lot of fun reading about the happenings and oil business in Mitchell County as my great-grandfather was a rancher there in the early 1900s. C.P. Conoway was his name along with his wife and eleven children. One of his daughter’s, Cecil Meskimen was my grandmother. I always enjoyed hearing her pioneering stories of life on the ranch. This connection to my ancestry is a great source of pride for our family.
As I have been following the forum, I’ve noticed that in general the mineral rights leasing has been a little north and east, but appears to be moving south west – again in general. My family has an undivided Conoway Ranch mineral rights interest. Most of the mineral interest is in Block 28, Sections 20, 21, 29, 30, and parts of 31-33. My question is whether any of you all know of mineral leasing going on specific to this area of Mitchell County. Last year we had an offer from a landman, but we were advised not to sign the contract. If any of you can help me out or point me in a good direction, I would certainly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch, John – by the way, if anyone would like to email me directly, my email is [email protected]
John Robertson, we are related; here is my email and I can give you a lot of information in ref to the Conaway Ranch: [email protected]
Truck drivers have said around 150 bbl a day, but we don’t have concrete information. They have a company pumper.
C pearson, I don’t find Block 97, do you know what part of the county it is in? Thanks, Toni
Within the past few days we have heard drilling is complete on the Wallace Well and they were rigging down. TD’d on the Scharlach.
The long curve from vertical to horizontal has been completed on the Wulfjen well and they were pulling the string of pipe this afternoon to get ready to drill horizontally.
I don’t know anything about the Treadaway Well. Cody, do you know if any construction has been done for a frac pit?
Has anyone heard anything about production at the Mayse place?
That’s not great, is it?
Thanks for posting the permits Clint.
Yaaay for Mr. Purvis! I hope I get to meet him some day, not only to congratulate him on the success he is having, but to tell him I really like those lease names, this one being the Brahman (remember his other ones are Shorthorn, Red Angus, Black Angus).
Toni,
Those names sort of sound delicious on a plate with a big ole baked potato with all the trimmins and a glass of Llano ‘Blush’ wine from the Lubbock area.

Heck no, its not great. I probably shouldn’t have posted it, since it is second hand information. Usually I stick to what I see with my eyes.
However, if you have heavy partners in your drilling program, like the Devonites do with their foreign investors, maybe it gives you enough backing to keep drilling, incorporate new seismic information, perfect your drilling techniques in the Cline, and piece enough information together across the county to have an overall successful drilling and production program. I sure hope so!
Spoke with Dawson Geophysical Rep this morning. Many of you may have been contacted for a large 3D survey in the Colorado City area. It is apparently being done for Devon. As of now, they are expecting to start in midFeb. Still completing leases at this time, and working up their plan. If I didn’t get my directions mixed up, he said the plan was to work East to West when it starts.
Tom
Clint, Now THAT would be a nice supper!
Diana, Remember too that these wells are gas producers with rich gas. The Mayse well is already tied in to the gas compressor station on the Spade Ranch where they are knocking out NGL. Hopefully the Wallace, Scharlach, and Wulfjen will be producers and tie in soon.
I have a question for any of you who might be familiar with well tests filed with the RRC.
We have received a proposed lease amendment on our current lease, a 2008 model, which the Devonites picked up. The primary term has 8 months remaining, no option to renew, it will have to be held with production (I hope I said that right).
Our current lease has the definition of “completion” or “abandonment” as having occurred no later than thirty days following the cessation of drilling operations. Drilling operations is defined in the lease as "the actual operation of drilling in the ground with equipment capable of prosecuting same to a depth necessary to adequately test one or more of the potential oil and/or gas formations in the area."
The proposed wording in the new amendment would read "A well shall be determined to be completed after the completion unit is released and the official potential test has been filed with the RRC of Texas."
Does anyone know what the mandated time is for completing and filing an official potential test? Our lease was entered into prior to horizontal drilling and fracking, and I get that they are wanting more time, but we are trying to determine how much time that means, according to that sentence. And what about “completion unit is released”?
Thanks for any help. Toni
Where is the Mayse well located?
Jennifer, It is the very NW corner of Blk 12, H&TC Survey, I think Section 55. There’s several sections there together that the Mayse Family owns.
Clint we used to sell some of wine grapes to llano, you also need to try Black Cat I think its called out of Dallas, we started making wine, just for friends to try, we grow, Merlot, Syrah, and Mouvedre
Are any of the other wells ready for production? I’ve lost track.
None other that I know of.
