http://www.mineralrightsforum.com/profiles/blogs/the-basics-of-pool… In my search to find info if our lease is involved in a pooled/unitization situation, I found this Mineral Forum resouce. Some help with this different language. Now, I have more understanding in reading the lease agreement. It seems the Lessee (Petrohawk) can at anytime determine a pooled/unitization “play” through a written record (P-15??) the lease does not say that the Lessee has to inform the lessor of this action. It makes sense that the Lessor would wait to pool after the exploration has determined productiveness. Am I understanding correctly?

Thanks again Wade. After trying to talk with Reeves Co Assessor and Clerk unsuccesfuly, I was able to talk to the Landman again who was very helpful in providing a copy of the original deed, more detail plat map, and recorded lease agreement (from Reeves Co). He shared that indeed this is a pooled play but that the specific information regarding who is involved in the pool would not show up until a Division Order was developed. I understand the Division Order is the next step if an exploration develops into production. The Landman said he thought it would be reasonable to expect that drilling would occurr within the next year. We recieved another offer to by our mineral rights that we declined. This time only part of them that was interesting.

Shell Permian Acquisition of CHK 618,000 acres $1.935 Billion. Map of acreage
This announcement supports Shell’s strategy of further building an industry-leading liquids-rich shale resource. The acquisition provides both existing production and near-term growth potential from a proven resource, as well as promising opportunities for expansion.
Through close of business yesterday, four permits filed, two of which were for SW injection wells. Hmmmmmnnnn…don’t like this at all!
Thanks, Buzz.
Stephen - What is the significance of injection wells? Is that fracking? And why is that bad?
Buzz,
**I do not believe the map shows the Chesepeake acreage only. **
How do I find out if there are pooled units in the recent drill application by Petrohawk West of Pecos in C-18 (Griffin property)
Injection wells in this instance are purely for the disposal of produced salt water.
On a different matter…we received our division order for our first well in Reeves. Hope it’s good!
Thank you for explaining.
Thanks Buzz and Marian, I did mean Grisham property. I have a lease with Kerr drilling who has partnered with Petrohawk, but nothing heard yet. Just trying to keep my ears to the ground. Thanks again.
Fred, from my beginner experience, is the application you refer to a W-1? The W-1 approved copy related to our mineral lease has an area on it that is a box for pooled/unitization. It is also my understanding, if the oil company includes the info for a pool in the W-1, that this information should be reflected in the attachment section of the W-1 as a P-12 (mabye a different number). Our landman has indicated that this info is not available currently on the W-1 related to our lease and won’t until the “play” has proven productive resulting in a Division order that will included info of all involved in the pool. Landman also said that most horizontal drills are pooled. I’m curious to see if my response is the correct understanding…others could be different
Fred – assuming you’re referencing Petrohawk’s GRISHAM HAWKINS C18-3 #1H (API 389-33431, Abstract A-5572) well 11 miles SSW of Pecos, it was permitted 8-22-12. The application documents and plat indicate the well is not pooled. Later – Buzz
I was out in Reeves and western Ward county on Friday. Activity sw of Pecos has shifted to south and southeast of town. Western Ward very active with rigs. Major gas processing plant in east central Reeves is supposed to be open in December. Did not travel north of Pecos, but understand it is active. 15 + rigs running south and southeast of Pecos spreading into northern Pecos county.
Thx, Wade
I would very much appreciate if someone could please let me know as to how long it takes to hear back from Petrohawk if they are interested in leasing after the information of the minerals/ land is received by them?
Is it OK to try other companies at the same time?
Thank you in advance

To Kenneth Haag–Thank you Very much for your advice- which I have followed.

Hello, All, I’m new to the Reeves county group. Does anyone have any information on the Concho Big Chief well in southern Reeves county? The second quarter presentation by Concho gave no numbers on the southern Delaware basin, but their CEO referred to Reeves county as the ‘Jewel in the Crown’. The first horizontal Big Chief must have looked good, they recently permitted a second horizontal well north of the first, but Concho says this series of wells are being completed slowly with an eye for enhancing recovery and no numbers are expected to be reported officially until the end of this year. Given the geology folks at Eagle gave an estimate of two hundred + millions of barrels of oil per section in much of Reeves but only 12% at best can be recovered I’m hopeful Concho can crack the code to recover greater than 3-12%. Waiting for the numbers is driving me mad. If anyone needs the address for the Eagle folks estimate of oil in place I have it below. http://www.searchanddiscovery.com/documents/2012/10412fairhurst/ndx…
40 acre spacings for vert. wells means 16 wells per section…and wouldn’t that be sweet!
