Mark, here is a link that was posted previously that really helped me as a "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4YIwFivoEY&feature=youtu.be

newbie" to navigage the rr map site…I think Buzz provided.

Look good?

Scott – On Sunday Craig described your land as: “I see a Block 2 Section 20 Abstract 1512 about 20 miles N of Pecos?” I believe you meant to agree with him, but you answered as if it was “Mark.” BTW, if this is indeed the correct parcel, you should give a full description when searching for help – “H&GN Blk 2, Sec 20, Abstract #1512” – the Abstract # being the single most valuable item. In other words, don’t require people you’re asking help from to go searching for more information if it’s not necessary.

The above described track is located 20.7 miles NNW of Pecos and 4.6 miles WSW of Mentone. Yes, there is drilling in the area in Reeves, Loving and Ward, but it is not the hottest area in Reeves. Reeves County has 33ish rigs running now, down from a little over 40 a year ago… but it is a very large county, i.e., 2,642 sq. miles. Hope this helps. Later – Buzz

Hector – there’s drilling activity all around Pecos on both sides of the river. Later – Buzz

Thanks Buzz. Friend of mine from Pecos said Oxy USA was drilling in the vicinity. Will see if I get lucky.

Hi! every one, I am new here. just bought some land. and interested in buying more land with both surface and mineral rights. and like to know more about Reeve county and meet new friends.

I own land at Block 55, section 8 township 4. I am planning to go to Pecos the first week of February to gather information. Anyone know the drilling going on in that area? I also would like to purchase some maps and plats of my land, does anyone know where I would go to purchase those items? Any and all information would be appreciated. I leased in 2010 for three yrs with an option for an extra 2. I have a private indiviual that is interested in drilling the land for me. Would it be possible to cancel the extra two years option with the company I am now with? Also, the lady that is interested in buying more land can contact me and make an offer. [email protected].

Thanks for all the help and assistance. It is appreciated.

Louise

Louise, a word of advice.

It’s never a good idea to publicly post your email address or other personal contact information on the Internet.

This can open you up to spam, phishing emails, and numerous privacy violations. Caution is the word.

Individuals can PM (Private Message) each other in this forum (and most others) when one user accepts a “friend request” from another user.

Then you can exchange personal contact information if you decide to.

Just found out today that Oxy has bought out the owners on our Sec.258, about 9 miles south of Pecos in Block 13. Taking over operations on April 1st. Evidently they have just recently closed a huge purchase…maybe 40,000 acres. Anybody know anything about this, or have comments about how they are to deal with.

Stephen – there are no press releases on their website yet. Later – Buzz

I haven’t been able to find anything yet. So many questions…being south of Pecos, it’s mainly independents and vertical wells. Will Oxy bring a horizontal preference? How aggressively will they develop past 160 acre spacings if verticals are the method of choice.

Hello to all…

Mr Buzz Van Meter : Reading thru the post you seem to offer very helpful info into the discussions and I’m thankful for that. I have my abstract number and section and block numbers. How do I find out what might be happening near me?

anyone can help? I want to find out if anything is going on near my property in Reeves county. Thank You . Website? Phone number? Email address? Where do people search for this info. I live 10hrs away. Over…

Wade Caldwell, thank you for the information on the lease options. Just getting anxious with company I am leased to. Of course, when I leased with them they were telling me, hurry and sign the lease we are eager to drill. But, I can wait a couple more years. So, thanks again. Louise

Timmy- There is a video on the home page that shows you how to check the RRC website for activity on or near your land. Louise- Most two year options are at the lessors option, so it is likely up to them.

FYI: From a 2012 working paper posted at the IMF’s website:

The Future of Oil: Geology versus Technology

The conclusion has some interesting prognostications.
